Work, work, work

It’s summer. The stinging nettles and thistles try to take over the park and pasturage and spiders try to take over the castle. Luckily I got some four-legged helpers.

Brad is now the only ram here, he is mostly very sweet, but if he gets bored he attacks me or Phex. Every ram seems to have a personal friend to fight with and for Brad that is Phex. Sadly Phex is no lamb. He’s a sheepdog, looks like Lassie and has sharp long teeth. Phex is very nice, he doesn’t fight back, he just walks away.

The rabbits start to get very careless. Every morning I wave to rabbits so they run away. But they seem to drowse in the grass and sometimes the dogs are able to catch or even kill and eat one. I don’t really appreciate that. I bet the rabbits have fleas and worms. And they are quite cute. But if a rabbit is half eaten already there is no point in making the dog drop it.

This rabbit was lucky. Rudi caught it, the terrier who sits in the stinging nettles on the right side. Okay, in this photo it’s not in a very dignified position. But when I let it down on the other side of the fence, it ran like the wind and seemed to be quite relieved. Own photo, licence: CC by-SA/ Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 3.0 Unported

Brad shows me where to cut thistles. The sheep eat the bad herbs when they are cut. Strange but true. Own photo, licence: CC by-SA/ Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 3.0 Unported
