It was a good decision to stay without new ram and have no lambs this year. The old ladies are happy and jump around like lambs. Even Daffne and she’s 7 years old. Other positive results are less drama, because there are no dying sheep/ lambs and less expenses. If we’re against expectations still here at the end of summer, I’ll buy a young ram from the nephew of my former shepherd. He has lambs, but he brings all sheep in the stable in the evening. And they stay there over night. He feeds them a lot and he can heat the stable. It’s a hobby, he doesn’t earn anything from it and neither do I.

Many fond memories of my childhood with sheep and lambs. Know what you mean about the stress of lambing though. Let those girls have a season off!

Yes, I love the lambs when they jump around, but I love the adult sheep as well. And it was a long winter this year. The weather report announced snow (!) for tomorrow night. Grr.
